The Space Foundation is developing the next generation of space professionals - and building the overall technological strength of the nation - through a wide variety of programs that stimulate students' interest and skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The Space Foundation, the Astronauts Memorial Foundation and NASA annually present the Alan Shepard Technology in Education Award to recognize outstanding contributions by K-12 educators and district level personnel in the field of educational technology.

Teacher Liaisons are nationally recognized as space and science education advocates, serving as an active link between their school/district, NASA and the Space Foundation.

The Space Foundation provides programs held in conjunction with the Space Symposium that focus on the future of the aerospace industry, including teacher workshops and Exhibit Center tours for high school students.

The 2014 Space Foundation International Student Art Contest theme, "My Spaceship Looks Like...," challenged students to design their own spaceship - and then interpret that idea into an original work of visual art.
